As you may or may not have heard, there's kind of a big game in Charlottesville tonight. First place is on the line, and it's the Commonwealth, not Tobacco Road, that's the focus of the big battle. I'm so excited that I haven't been able to do a damn thing all day.
So, in times like these, what else is there to do but seek comfort in history. I would argue that tonight is the biggest game UVa has played since March 5, 1995. It was senior night for Junior Burrough and Jason Williford. A Virginia win would mean a 4-way tie for first place in the final league standings, and give Virginia a share of the conference title for the first time in a dozen years. A Maryland win would give the Terps the regular-season championship outright. The stakes were for both teams.
What happened? Virginia blew the Terps out of the water, 92-67.
This season has felt like a deja-vu of 1995 for a while. Tonight maybe we'll find out for sure.
