The Lake Woebegon Conference

I'm working on publishing horse race charts for all the conference races (conference pages will be part of the ongoing redesign around here), and I was struck by just how crazy the Colonial could turn out to be this season:


There are 108 wins to be had in CAA conference play this year. William & Mary and Towson look like they'll combine for 2 or 3 of those. VCU will win 14 or 15 games. That leaves around 90 wins to be divided among the remaining nine teams, and there isn't really much separation among them. The current projection has only Hofstra joining the Tigers and the Tribe with losing conference records, and there's a very real possibility that the 10th-place team could finish at or above .500 in conference play. In a year where there's really not too much to say about the CAA, that could be something fun to keep an eye on.
